The inverter circuit shown in the figure can be used to power a fluorescent lamp in an emergency lighting system, camping or even for automotive use. The efficiency depends on the transformer used and the frequency that can be set at P1. Depending on the lamp, the reader can experiment with several small transformers. The power transistor must be mounted on a heat radiator. Another important application is the activation of a small 2 to 4 watt ultraviolet lamp for analysis of rock fluorescence in field analysis, which may lead to the discovery of rare ores. The unit, powered by 4 or 6 large batteries, can be mounted in a small box for portable use.
