The frequency of this type is oscillator is given by the RC network. Calculations can be found in the Mathematics for Electronics in this site. The circuit produces a sine low-frequency signal and any general-purpose NPN transistor can be used. The circuit also operates with PNP transistors inverting the power supply polarity.
