“I was informed that by leaving an automotive battery on the floor, it discharges faster. It is true?"

This is one of those myths that, without any foundation, are spread and many accept. It is like the belief that placing steel wool on an antenna improves reception or that placing a bottle of water near the light meter reduces consumption. There is no basis for this belief. A battery discharges if there is a leak or path to the current between its poles. In a very humid environment, we can even expect an escape current, but it would be small. If a battery discharges on the ground at any time, it is for another reason, such as high temperature in the room.
