“I like to experiment with plants. I set up a polygraph that works well, but only for a few hours. After that, the electrode site is stained, and the plant cells die. I must look for another location on the sheet for your connection. What happens?”

This effect is called galvanism. The contact of the metal of the electrodes causes the production of a small voltage that, in turn, is responsible for a current that attacks the electrodes and the cells of the plant. This current has an electrolysis effect, corroding the electrodes and killing the cells. The gel technique used in electrocardiograms that prevents the effect should be used. It can be found in medical supply shops.
