“Is there a possibility to use RFID for long distance readings? Satellites, for example?”

Radio Frequency Identification, abbreviated by RFID, is a passive system that applies the signal from a transmitter to a chip feeding and, at the same time, reading it. Because it is passive, its range is small, being used only for purposes that do not require more than a few meters. Therefore, it is limited to products (tags), reading chips in cattle, etc. The system used by aircraft for long range is active and is called a “transponder”. The signal is emitted and when a transmitter is received it goes into action sending a signal back but powered by batteries and with much greater power.
