I have several boxes in which I keep electronic components. Should I protect these components from moisture?

Moisture can have several effects on electronic components. It can be responsible for terminals corrosion, which will make welding difficult or even cause it to break. It can also penetrate some less protected components, such as old capacitors, transformers and inductors that are not shielded, causing leakage or parasitic resistances. It is always a good idea to use desiccants such as silica gel to avoid moisture in places where components and devices are stored.
