The two tubes are the same thing. EL84 is the specification by the European nomenclature. So if the manufacturer is European (Philips, for example) the spec is EL84. However, American and overseas manufacturers use the American nomenclature which is 6BQ5. See our tubes section for how to interpret the specifications.
