“I built a project that asks for a ½ W resistor. But when I used that resistor, I noticed that it warming up too much. What could be happening?”

If the project asks ½ W and everything is in order there is no reason for overheating. The reason may be in some other component of the circuit with problems or even an excessive voltage source. Check that the voltages in the circuit are correct. If they are correct and even with the heating of the resistor the operation is normal, exchange this resistor for one of greater dissipation, 1 or 2 W, for example.
