This circuit was found in a 1966 publication, but it can be implemented with equivalent transistors or even PN55 type BC558. It is possible to use the 50 uA scale of a common multimeter to measure voltages on a 400M-ohm input resistance voltmeter. Batteries are nothing more than 1.5 V batteries.
