This circuit produces an output pulse with a duration determined by R and C. With a 10 k ? resistor and 0.1 ?F capacitor, individual short-duration pulses can be generated from mechanical sensors. The same circuit can be used in other applications such as a long-period monostable or a timer, as we will see in other parts of this book. Other articles in this section indicate which circuits can be used to increase the current capabilities of this circuit.
