A touch on the sensor connected between X and Y causes the relay to close its contacts for a time set in P1. This time can range from a few seconds to several minutes depending on the C1 value. The relay must be according to the supply voltage. The wire to the sensor must not be long and if it is longer than 1 meter it must be shielded. The circuit is from the book Fun Projects for The Experimenter by Newton C. Braga, published in the United States.
