We found this circuit in a 1998 technical documentation. Using common integrated circuits, it generates a sawtooth signal whose frequency depends on the 555. See in the math section for electronics how to calculate the components for the desired frequency. The supply does not need to be symmetrical and the circuit allows the use of an external synchronization pulse through an additional input.
