L1 and C1 determine the frequency of this Colpitts Oscillator. Refer to our section Mathematics for Electronics in this site for further calculations. The circuit can operate in frequency up to some megaherts and equivalent transistor such as the BF494, BC548 and other general purpose types can be used. The circuit can be powered from voltages sources in the range between 6 and 12 V.
