“I have two 12V x 2A power supplies. Can I connect them in parallel to obtain greater current?”

Unfortunately, it is not a recommended procedure. Even though they are the same, it is not guaranteed that the characteristics of the sources are absolutely the same, especially with regard to their internal resistance. Thus, when connecting in parallel, there may be a difference between them sufficient for a feedback process to take place, that is, the current starts to flow from one to another in addition to the load. This can overload one of the sources to the point that it burns. If you need more current, it is best to have a source of the required current.
