Does equipment that uses a simple switch consume power even when turned off?

What happens is that many modern equipment have digital drive circuits that keep them in a low consumption situation even when they are not in operation. This occurs, for example, in devices that need to have their remote control receiver always on to work when they need to be operated remotely. Although very low, they consume energy in this state. For devices that use simple switches, this does not occur and consumption does not exist.
