I have a project of an audio circuit that asks for a log potentiometer. Can I use a linear potentiometer (lin) instead?

Logarithmic potentiometers are commonly used as volume controls in audio equipment because their resistance variation curve adapts to the sensitivity curve of the human ear. There are other applications for these components and even some types of special curved logarithmic potentiometers, but they are not very common. Linear, on the other hand, are used where a linear variation of resistance is desired, such as tone controls, instrumentation, speed controls, etc. In an emergency where there is no log for an application we can use a lin. It will work if the control in the lower range is not optimal. The important thing here is that the value is kept.
