“I want to put an electronic temperature control in my shower (dimmer). How do I choose and what precautions to take for installation?”

Electric showers require very high wattages, up to 6,800 W or even 7,200 W in some cases. At 220 V this means currents greater than 30 A. The dimmers used for these controls should therefore be able to work with these currents, and therefore are not common dimmers used for small motor speed and lamp controls. With these chains, the wires used for their connection are very thick and the connection must be made using porcelain type screw terminals, to avoid any problem of overheating. Safety is very important as the circuit will be energized at mains voltage and any contact can be fatal. In addition to being fully waterproof enclosure, the dimmer must have the control knob and fully insulated accessible parts.
