This serial lamp test or appliance test is for testing appliances (without electronics) that work connected to the power grid, detecting short or openings in the circuit. The circuit also serves to test cables, fuses, switches and other high voltage components.

 

The test is done with pulsating direct current the current depends on the lamp.

 

We recommend the use of a 25-40 W incandescent bulb. Do not use another type of bulb. For the 220 V network the diode must be the 1N4007.

 

As the circuit is not insulated from the power grid, maximum care must be taken with its use. The tests should always be done with the component the circuit disconnected from the power grid.

 

The circuit also tests high voltage diodes such as 1N4004 or 1N4007 and other rectifiers.

In figure 2 we have its assembly based on a bridge of terminals. It is convenient to close the components in a small plastic box or other insulation material.
