There are dozens of projects that we publish in our books and on our site that make use of relays of various types. However, not all readers have, at the time of assembly, a relay or would like to experiment with this type of component.
An interesting possibility for readers experimenting before making definitive assemblies is to have one or more relays ready for quick and easy connection to the circuits that need to be tried.
We suggest for these readers to have a relay or two being one of 6 V and another of 12 V with drive currents d 100 mA and 50 mA.
Bridged or contact array assemblies can then be easily proven with the use of this relay that will be connected by means of rigid ropes.
In figure 1 we have the schematic of a common relay of two reversible contacts.
In figure 2 the way to connect this relay to two screw bridges.
By soldering the wires to the relay terminals, this component is self-supporting and there is no need for any other type of fastening.
To test the circuit, only apply 6 to 12 V to terminals A and B and check their operation.
