Build an ultraviolet lighting system for your parties or even for decoration. Only 4 components are needed and the effects will surely amaze everyone.
We have already talked about ultraviolet light, when we even gave the design of an inverter for the portable use of this type of radiation with a fluorescent lamp.
The fixed use of an ultraviolet lamp from the local power grid is much simpler, since we already have the voltage that can drive it and the applications are equally interesting.
We can use it in dances and parties to obtain phosphorescence of certain objects, such as buttons, teeth, and some fabrics, producing a "cadaverous" appearance in the participants, as well as highlighting objects in a shop window.
There are black fluorescent lamps in a power range between 5 and 40 watts, which operate exactly the same type of installation as a regular fluorescent and their connection is very simple.
ASSEMBLY
In Figure 1, we have the circuit of a black light fluorescent lamp, and in Figure 2, we show the actual appearance of the assembly.

The XR reactor can be placed next to the switch and the lamp can be mounted on a wooden base installed in a place which depends on what you want to light. Some common fluorescent luminaires have the same dimensions as black fluorescents, and can be used in this case. These luminaires even have the place for fixing the reactor and the starter, which facilitates the realization of the project.
The reactor must be purchased together with the lamp because it depends on its power.
TEST AND USE
To test the unit, simply plug it into the power supply in the dark. Objects such as sheets of paper, clothing buttons and some types of fabrics should emit a phosphorescence.
Once the operation is confirmed, it is only necessary to install it in the desired location.
We must not use ultraviolet fluorescents found in memory erasers (EPROM), which have transparent glass, because their intensity is dangerous, and should not be looked at directly. Black light bulbs for dances and decoration, of lower intensity, are those that have dark glass and are not dangerous, when used moderately.
We also note that readers should not confuse ultraviolet and infrared lamps, which are used in medical light baths.
