This power supply is ideal for replacing 4 batteries in devices requiring 6 V of power under currents up to 500 mA. The maximum current depends only on the transformer used. The source is stabilized and protected.

   We describe the assembly of a simple 6 V supply or eliminator for AA, AAA and even average batteries in common appliances.

   The fountain will also serve your bench to feed your experimental designs or even repair.

   The transformer must have primary winding according to the secondary and power supply from 9 + 9 V to 12 + 12 V with current between 200 and 500 mA, depending on the maximum desired at the output.

   The integrated circuit must have a small heat sink consisting of a folded metal plate secured by a bolt with nut.

   For the output, red and black terminals can be used, or wires with claws to connect to the powered device.

   The assembly can be mounted in a small plastic box.

Assembly can be done on a small terminal strip, as shown in figure 2.

On assembly, note the polarity of the diodes and the position of the integrated circuit.

   The capacitors are for 16V or more.

    Note: Some modern 7806 integrated circuits require output capacitors smaller than 10 uF - see the datasheet if you have questions.
