The Pi-Network can be used to match impedances; for instance, the output of a transmitter with the impedance of an antenna.
The next formulas are used to calculate the filter´s elements:
Formula 1
Z1 / Z2 = (C2 / C1)2
Where:
Z1 is the input impedance in ohm (Ω)
Z2 is the output impedance in ohm (Ω)
C1 and C2 are the capacitances in the network in farads (F)
Formula 2
C = (C1 x C2) / (C1 + C2)
Where:
C is the total capacitance in picofarads (pF)
C1 are C2 the capacitances in the network in picofarads (pF)
Formula 3
Where:
F is the resonant frequency in hertz (Hz)
π = 3,1416
L is the associated inductance in henry (H)
C is the total capacitance om picofarads (PF)
Formula 4
Where:
Z1 is the input impedance in ohm (Ω)
Z2 is the output impedance in ohm (Ω)
C1 and C2 are the capacitances in farads (F)
