This circuit is from an Electronics Now, American magazine from December 1992. The magazine no longer exists, but the circuit can be easily assembled, as all components are common. The circuit generates a high voltage that can power a small fluorescent light. The transformer can be of the type of supply with low winding of 6 to 9 V and current between 300 and 800 mA. The NPN transistor can be the BD135 and the PNP the BD136. The output signal is not perfectly sinusoidal.
