This circuit is from a Popular Electronics of December 1993. In it we have the way to externally connect and disconnect an oscillator with the 4093. For more details on how to calculate the frequency see the section of Mathematics for Electronics. The supply voltage can be between 5 and 15 V. Typical values for Rx are between 10 k and 1 M and for Cx between 100 pF and 100 nF.
