This circuit is used in communications receivers to silence noise that occurs in poor signal conditions. The circuit is connected to the receiver's IF transformer. This version uses general purpose PNP transistors, but the circuit can be implemented with more modern transistors and changes in the polarization resaistors. The diodes are germanium for general use.
