In this circuit the CA3140, an operational amplifier, is used as a comparator with the zener diode as reference. The circuit is from an English publication from 1982 and is valid for other operational amplifiers. The characteristic of this circuit is given next to the diagram. The circuit can be supplied with other voltages depending on the operational and the zener diode.
