In the figure we have the way to control a triac of the TIC series with a low voltage through a transformer. The current in the transformer will be small and the triac will trigger to conduct the current in both directions. The triac must be mounted on a heat radiator. The circuit is from a 1980 publication. A 110 x 12 V transformer can be used.
