This circuit is from 1976 RCA documentation. The circuit uses an SCR that is no longer common but can be replaced by the ones in the TIC series with current according to the controlled motor. The SCR must be equipped with a heat radiator, the diac can be of any type and with appropriate components the circuit also works on the 220 V network. The control is half wave. The pot can be 220 k which is the most common current commercial value.
