This traditional version of timer was found in an old English publication. The relay must be of a sensitive type to be driven directly driven by the 555. For common relays use an amplification step. The time depends on the capacitors connected on pin 6 and can be increased up to 1000 uF. The potentiometer, which can also be increased, adjusts the time.
