The TTL circuit shown in the figure generates a 1 MHz rectangular signal depending on the 20-200 pF trimmer setting. Lower frequencies can be generated with the use of a fixed capacitor of lesser value. The circuit is powered with 5 V and other Schmitt trigger inverter functions can be used in the same configuration, which can be experimented with CMOS circuits raising the values of the resistors used to 100 k ohms.
