With this circuit we can present an 8-bit binary information from a software on an 8-LED display. The base of the circuit is a simple 74100 (8 bistable Iatches) in a 24-pin enclosure with a 5 V supply. The 330 ohms resistors determine the brightness of the LEDs, with a current of the order of 12 mA. As we only have 8 LEDs, the word size shown is limited to 8 bits, but nothing prevents this circuit from being used in simpler applications where few external indications are needed.
