This simple test tells you whether a PNP or NPN transistor is OK. The signal is given by turning on the LEDs that are set in the pot. Power is supplied by batteries and the transformer is the type of output found in common transistor radios. In place of the LEDs, a piezoelectric transducer can be used and then the indication will be audible.
