This circuit is suggested by Motorola as the basis for the MC3324 A integrated circuit and has a line loss detector output. The system is of the Crossbar type in which an SCR is triggered when the overvoltage occurs, thus shorting the output quickly and avoiding problems for the fed load. The SCR must be chosen according to the characteristics of the source and, therefore, also the fuse. The MC3324 consists of a double voltage comparator designed especially for supervising power supplies. This integrated can operate with voltages from 4.5 to 40 volts and its output can supply a current of 300 mA (pin 8 and pin 10) for the triggering of SCRs.
