The circuit shown makes it possible to power CD-players, tape players and other devices that use 2 small or medium batteries from 12 V obtained from the car's cigarette lighter socket. The O1 transistor must be mounted on a heat radiator. The series diodes determine the output voltage. It will be interesting for the reader to try different combinations of diodes by connecting a voltmeter to obtain the desired voltage at the output. In some cases, up to 6 diodes instead of 5 may be required to achieve exactly the 3 V output.
