The cascade connection of two flip-flops allows division by 4, as shown in the figure. Note that the output for the second flip-flop is not removed from the Q outlet, but from its complementary outlet. The maximum frequency is in the order of 10 MHz and depends on the supply voltage, between 3 and 15 V.
