With this circuit we can obtain different voltages of 5 V, but with great regulation, and output current of up to 1A, using a 7805. The voltage reference is given by an operational amplifier 741 and is adjusted in the potentiometer (or trimpot) of 10 k. Note that the input voltage must be at least 2.5 V higher than the desired voltage at the output, and that the 7805 must be mounted on a heat radiator.
