The circuit in the figure produces a perfectly rectangular waveform signal. For a 1 nF C1 capacitor we will have a frequency of approximately 1 kHz. The resistor R1 also influences the operating frequency of the circuit. Two of the 4 NAND ports of the integrated 4001 are used. If the other ports are not used, it is convenient to connect them to the negative pole of the power supply.
