This small transmitter of just 15 mW for the 3.5 MHz (80 meter) band was found in a 1986 Sylvania publication, using a germanium transistor from that time. The crystal determines the frequency and the milliammeter indicates the current in the circuit. The range can be very long if an appropriate antenna is used.
