This switching circuit for contact breaker cars was found in a Radio Electronics from April 1964. The circuit can use any transistor of the time and the resistors depend on their characteristics. Typical values for R are between 2.2 and 10 ohms and for the base resistor between 47 ohms and 470 ohms.
