This circuit converts the 12 to 13.6 V of a battery into 6 Vwith current up to 1 A. We can use it to power applications that use batteries directly from a vehicle's 12 V outlet. The integrated circuit shall be fitted with a heat radiator. The fuse is for input protection. The input can be made with a car cigarette lighter connector. The circuit is from the book Fun Projects for the Experimenter by Newton C. Braga, published in the United States. With the use of a 7808 and 1N4002 diode on the IC pin we can get an 8.6 V output to power 9 V applications.
