ST Microelectronics has, in its line of low voltage drop linear regulators, the KD1084xx (fixed) and KD1084Axx types, adjustable, capable of supplying currents up to 5 A. With 5 A of output current, the voltage drop in these devices is of 1.3 V. The output voltages available in the fixed and adjustable are 1.8 V, 2.5 V and 3.3 V with an output tolerance of 1%. Devices are supplied in TO-220, D2PAK and DPAK enclosures. In the next figure we have the typical application circuits for the fixed voltage and adjustable voltage versions. For the adjustable voltage version we have the formula that allows to calculate the divider that determines the output voltage. The maximum input voltage is 12 V.
