The circuit shown in figure 1 is common in many consumer electronics. It generates from the 110 V network an output voltage corresponding to approximately 450 V without load.
This value corresponds to approximately three times the input peak voltage. The maximum current depends on the capacitor values and is around a few tens of milliamperes. As more current is required from the circuit, its voltage drops proportionally.
The capacitors must have a working voltage of at least 2 times the input voltage. The diodes can be 1N4007 or equivalent. Note that this circuit is not isolated from the power grid and therefore any contact with its parts is dangerous.
In figure 2 we have a suggestion of printed circuit board for implementation of this voltage tripler.
