This elementary medium-wave radio was found in a publication from the 1970s. The handset must be crystal or piezoelectric and the diode 1N34 or equivalent. The coil consists of 50 + 50 turns of wire 28 or 30 in a ferrite rod and the variable capacitor can be used from an AM radio that is not in use. The antenna must be long, and a ground connection helps to obtain greater sensitivity.
