This circuit is from an American publication from 1973. We can implement it with the NF494 for the RF transistor and BC548 for the others. The lamp can be replaced by an LED in series with a 220 ohms resistor. The coil depends on the frequency you want to detect. The diode is germanium like 1N34. The circuit operates up to a frequency of a few tens of megahertz.
