This circuit is indicated for the control of resistive loads. When S1 is opened, the triac turns on near the zero passage of the first cycle of the feed. The circuit is from Motorola's Circuit Applications for the Triac from 1971. The triac admits equivalent according to the load current. This component must have a heat sink.
