This circuit is suggested by Texas Instruments and can be used on an assembly line to drive an object counter or automatic production control. The 15k resistor, together with the 10 nF capacitor, are calculated to provide an output pulse of constant duration, in the case of 100 us. The resistor can be between 2 k and 40 k and the capacitor from 10 uF to 1 uF, in which case we will have pulses from 30 ns to 10 ms.
