This circuit uses a unijunction transistor in a different configuration to generate rectangular pulses at a frequency set by potentiometer P1. P2 sets the active cycle. The unijunction transistor admits equivalent and bipolar transistors are general-purpose types. The circuit was found in European documentation from the 1980s.
