This shield, found in old English documentation, appears with variations elsewhere in this section and on the website. The circuit is intended to drive inductive AC loads such as motors and solenoids. It can drive a high-power AC powered triac from a CMOS output or directly from a microcontroller. The activation is done with the output at low level. R1 will have 220 ohms for 3.3 V outputs and 330 ohms for 5 V outputs. Any optodiac can be used, depending on the grid voltage.
