This circuit consists of a small inverter that can generate a few hundred volts of DC voltage under low current. The transformer is of the common type of supply with secondary of 5 to 12 V and current of 100 mA to 500 mA and the transistor must be mounted in heatsinkr. R1 must have values between 2.2 k and 10 k, obtained experimentally for higher performance. The neon lamp is optional. Do not use the common multimeter to measure the output voltage, because the load it represents gives wrong results.
