The circuit shown in the figure is suggested by Intersil (www.intersil.com) and makes use of the ISL6410 a 600 mA switched controller that has the integrated FET. The circuit employing PWM technology operates at a frequency of 750 kHz. The presented buck converter admits a 10% change in the input voltage and the output can also be programmed for voltages of 1.2 V 1.5 V or 1.8 V with the use of ISL410) and 1,2 V, 1.8 V and 3.3 V with the ISL410A. The frequency can also be adjusted to values between 500 kHz and 1 MHz. Features such as UVLO (undervoltage locking) and power good monitor are available in this circuit. The ISL6410 integrated circuit (A) can be obtained in a 10-pin MSOP enclosure or 16-pin QFN. More information on this component and its applications can be found in Intersil's Application Note 1209.
